My pieces are painted in acrylic on canvas - often with the addition of stitch or textile. My inspiration comes from many common-place themes: houses, boats, bottles, fish, birds, the countryside and coast.... and the pictures I make are about the shapes, colours and textures of those images. I simplify or exaggerate the compositions, highlighting certain areas with only loose reference to realism or actual places but hoping to contain the essence and beauty of a subject as it appears to me.
