My pieces are worked in textile and stitch on an acrylic painted base - usually canvas, calico or watercolour paper. I'm inspired by common-place themes - houses, boats, bottles, fish, birds... and the pictures I make are about the shapes, colours and textures of the world around me. I usually simplify or exaggerate the imagery so that most of my compositions become quite abstract or have only loose reference to realism or perspective. Pictures come in various sizes - most are traditionally mounted and wood framed, whilst others are white-painted box-framed canvases.
